Omicron (Upper Case) (Ο)
The word OMICRON literally means "little O." (This contrasts with OMEGA (Ω), which means "great O").
In 2020, the World Health Organization's (WHO) established a convention of naming variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus after letters of the Greek alphabet (in order to avoid stigmatizing countries where variants were first detected). In November 2021, a new variant of the virus was identified as "of concern" and designated OMICRON.
