What Does EXP Mean in a Text?

EXP means "Experience Points."

In online gaming, experience points (EXPs) are gained in RPGs (Role Playing Games) as characters progress through the game and complete missions or achieve objectives.

The accumulation of EXPs may permit a character to acquire new abilities or improve existing ones, such as strength, magic, health and skills. EXPs may also give a character access to more areas or items. For example:

• Neil: How many EXPs do you need to be able to get to the next level?
• Jane: I don't know, but you get a bonus EXP if you make it through the labyrinth.

"Experience Points" is also often abbreviated as XP.
